Why should you get involved?

It is important that as a community we can give back to those who are less fortunate than ourselves. According to the 2007 Feeding Florida Report, 11.8% of all households in Alachua County are potentially food insecure. St. Francis House currently provides about 230 meals a day - an increase of about 100 more than last year. In addition, for the 2006 - 2007 fiscal year, Bread of the Mighty Food Bank served approximately 70,000 different people in Alachua County. Given the current trends, Bread of the Mighty Food Bank anticipates a possible 10% increase in the number of people it will serve this year. With this great need in our community, the "why should you get involved" is obvious.

"We make a living by what we get, we make a life by what we give." -Sir Winston Churchill
